The pilgrims
I was 24 the first time I went to the Valley. As I walked through San Francisco and met people there, I couldn’t help having a déja-vu feeling. It was like I had already been there a long time ago, like the city had been waiting for me all those years.
As Nolan Bushnell gave me a ride on his car through the city, I was thinking about this: all the kids who grew up in their little towns hacking on their computers would someday do their pilgrimage and meet each other here. The Valley had raised us all, and we were finally coming back home.
